If you ask me, it’s the human body. Well, the mind-body-soul connection, to be precise.
It’s a part visible, but mostly invisible, ‘suit’ that we get to wear during this lifetime (so don’t get too attached).
How to be spiritual means to feed your spirit and starts by being your authentic self, no matter the tests of life throw at you.
There is a lot of talk, specifically around health, that refers to the physical body, our mental wellbeing, and how we’re doing emotionally. We’re finally ready to talk about how it all relates with our spiritual (or, metaphysical) side. According to my spiritual guide, without this invisible-to-the-eye part of us, any human is barely able to realize 5% of who they are! Maybe The Little Prince was right after all…
Here are 99 ways to ensure that The Force be with you on your spiritual journey at all times:
#1. Every day, be aware of your “Hour of Power”.
Being spiritual means to prioritize your energies, and therefore your time. Time is way more than just money.
This 60-minute period is divided into two: the 30 minute window after waking up & before going to bed. You ever collect reward points on a credit card? These two time windows will help double and even triple your chances of having a great day, both now and for tomorrow. In these two 30-minute intervals, this world and powers above are asking: What do you worship? Is it technology? Or is it sports? Make it as significant to you as can be 🙂

#2. Embody gratitude. “Gratitude is the wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk.” – Rumi
Prayer helps with this one. The Creator loves a grateful devotee. Asking the Divine to help you embody gratitude will do nothing but good. In a sense, we are given new life each and every time we open our eyes after sleep. The least we can do is pause and thank the One who brought us here.
#3. Affirm victory over your life. Brian Tracy, from The Psychology of Achievement simply recommends boldly stating: “I like myself!”
“Think big, be big.” Brian Grazer, film maker and author of A Curious Mind: The Secret to a Bigger Life, credits his grandmother for sowing the seeds of his Hollywood success. She would repeat these four words – think big, be big – to him as a youth over and over again.
Just remember, with affirmations, your heart and mind must align. And be humble! Now go, think big, be big.
#4. Pray for anything you want. Prayer is a technology. Master the art patience and detachment, and you will see miracles.
From my experience, when I get on my knees, and fold my hands, I get a clearer signal to the Divine. Pray to be protected by a large bubble shield made of Pure White Light to breeze through your day without negativity getting in your way before leaving the house. Pray to be blessed in unknown and miraculous ways before going to bed. And pray as if it given! Proper prayer is to know that attaining your desire is a birthright, not the obtaining of an extraneous gift. The Creator likes when we claim what is rightfully ours. So, try it. Pray as if it given. And don’t be too surprised when slash how it comes. Just be thankful. And claim it!
#5. Drink lemon water. Studies have proven lemon water is a “natural laxative”. In other words, people downing even just 16 ounces of it on an empty stomach upon waking has the potential to run Metamucil out of business. In fact, your whole body will thank you for it. Right after sleeping is when our bodies are the most dehydrated. With just half a lemon in your water, your liver gets the cleanse it so thoroughly deserves. And as they say in China, you need your liver to live.
#6. Ground your energies every day. For me, I do this twice a day. Once before starting my day, once before pre-bed routine.
This cannot be overstated: incorporating a grounding technique will be like adding spiritual hygiene to your daily routine. With your spinal cord straight, either sitting or lying down, visualize Divine Light passing through every single part of your body (or chakras) from top to bottom. Once you reach your feet, feel the cord of light go down to the center of the earth. Give your love to the center of the earth. Reading this once, it might sound crazy. Actually do it, you’ll see why I’m paying it forward. It makes you feel so much *lighter*.
Other great ways to ground include hugging a tree, being in moving water, and walking barefoot on the grass (if available).
#7. Read spiritual books. A wise man once said, “Read a little. Meditate more. Think of God all the time.”
It was The Autobiography of a Yogi which supernaturally pushed me over the edge to start meditating every night. The magic contained within its pages gave me the motivation needed to start seeking more seriously for that same magic within. Good books will do that. Good books will have you starting to believe in yourself.
Don’t like reading? Read what you love, until you love what you read. For example, in my case, it needed to be my childhood favourites, before moving on to more mature content.
#8. Journal in your own unique way. There are so many ways to keep a journal. One of the most intimate things you can do is share it with someone you trust wholeheartedly. Back in the day, I liked to write in code, so that if anyone else opened it, they would have no idea what was going on. Sure enough, my parents found it, opened it, and asked the doctor to send me to the funny farm!
Journaling is a great way to process your thoughts and feelings. Like grounding, it makes you feel lighter, especially as a ‘verbal processor’ when you have no one to talk to.
Recommendations for journaling are jotting down snippets of important conversations from earlier that day, quotes from #inspo you find in books or online, and writing down song lyrics, maybe from the song that’s playing on repeat in your headphones right now.
#9. Sit with yourself. AKA meditate.
Reality is, if there’s only one way to be spiritual, it’s this one.
A wise man once said, “If you can’t be with yourself, how can you be with anyone else?” This is why I find introverts some of the most interesting people at parties. They don’t need the approval of others. Can you relate to this?
The point is this: shut off your five senses. (We have more than five, by the way, and meditation is the tool to get there.) ‘There’ being the goal of total, inner, blissful peace. My hope is that you, the reader, reach here someday. And if you already have, you’ll like my next point.
#10. Be like the Sphinx. This one’s from Dr. Jack Kruse. An audience member at a Q & A he was hosting asked him what the “number one thing” was that could be done to improve their health. A cantankerous Dr. Kruse took a pause to acknowledge that this was the best question he had been asked. Everyone’s ears perked up to his answer: “Be like the Sphinx”.
What he means is this: rise with the sun. The Sphinx faces the East. It meets the sun at the crack of dawn every. single. day. There’s just something about getting sunlight in your eyeballs in the morning… Anything that gets us closer to Mother Nature belongs on this list.
#11. Limit fat before noon. I’ll explain.
The analogy given to me was one of a car in winter. Think of your digestive system as the engine. Are you really expecting your car’s engine to be enthusiastically running about after hibernating for eight hours? Give it time. Give it space. Give it fruits and vegetables. Who can disagree with me there? Again, thank me later.
#12. Look in the same direction that you are driving in. This one’s from Danica Patrick.
If you’re moving forward, look straight ahead of you, no rubbernecking. While society holds up signs pointing to the newest celebrity couple or the tragedy happening in the Middle East, in which direction are *you* heading in? Call me insensitive, more than 99.9% of the things happening in pop culture and being reported on in the news have nothing to do with me. This is the aim of the media moguls, if you ask me; to distract.
#13. Speak no evil. This could be called “Stop complaining, and watch your life change.”
A wise man once said, “Never speak badly about yourself, even as a joke.” Here’s a 5-second psychology lesson: your subconscious doesn’t know anyone outside of you exists. So, when you speak ill of anything or anyone, it thinks you’re talking about yourself! That’s why it is like a mini superpower to realize that our tongue can be used as a weapon. Use it to conquer the negative forces with love. Love conquers all, and if you can’t access love, pressing ‘pause’ is always an option too.
#14. Mindfully count your breaths. This is a foundational practice in mindfulness and meditation, offering profound benefits for our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
This simple technique helps quiet the mind, drawing our attention away from distracting thoughts and into the present moment. As we consciously count each inhale and exhale, we deepen our awareness and establish a rhythm that calms the nervous system. This reduction in stress and mental chatter fosters inner peace, clarity, and emotional stability.
On a vibrational level, mindful breathwork aligns us with higher states of consciousness. The breath acts as a bridge between the physical and subtle energy bodies, and paying attention to it harmonizes our energy field. When our breath is slow, steady, and intentional, we elevate our frequency, inviting more positivity, love, and spiritual alignment into our lives.
Moreover, this practice enhances self-awareness and the ability to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively, which is crucial for maintaining a high vibration. By cultivating this discipline, we create space for greater connection with our inner self and the universe, fostering a sense of balance, purpose, and alignment with the flow of life.
#15. Elevate your heart rate. “You don’t want to talk to me before I have swum,” says Dr. Gabor Maté.
Physical activity is essential for boosting energy, improving mood, and raising our vibration. Movement stimulates the release of endorphins and other feel-good hormones, reducing stress and fostering a sense of joy and vitality. It also increases oxygen flow and enhances circulation, supporting both physical and energetic balance. As we engage in exercise, we align our mind and body, releasing stagnant energy and embracing a more vibrant state. This heightened energy frequency enhances clarity, positivity, and connection to life’s higher vibrations.
#16. Reduce exposure to mainstream media. Mainstream media often focuses on fear, negativity, and sensationalism, which can drain our energy and cloud our mindset. By limiting exposure, we create space for uplifting, inspiring, and empowering content that nurtures our well-being. This conscious choice protects our mental clarity, emotional balance, and spiritual alignment. It helps us stay centered, maintain a higher frequency, and focus on creating a life filled with peace, positivity, and purpose.
#17. Ween off pornography. Pornography often distorts perceptions of intimacy and love, reducing profound human connections to superficial experiences. Being spiritual means to feed your spirit. By preparing meals with intention and love, you infuse them with positive energy, aligning your food with your body’s unique needs. This mindful act allows you to choose fresh, wholesome ingredients that support vitality and clarity. Cooking connects you to the process of creation, fostering gratitude and presence. Eating food prepared in this high-vibration state promotes balance, energy, and harmony, elevating both your physical and spiritual well-being.
#20. Give with thanks. Making purchases in a state of gratitude transforms spending into a high-vibration act, fostering abundance and positivity. Gratitude shifts our focus from lack to appreciation, creating an energetic alignment with the flow of prosperity. When we acknowledge the value we receive in exchange for money, we honor the energy behind the transaction. This mindful approach strengthens the belief that there is always enough, inviting money to circulate back into our lives. When you give toxins the boot, you align your body and spirit, creating a temple where your higher self actually wants to hang out.
#25. Break the ice. At the end of a walk the other day, I found myself saying this to a man wearing high-vis gear and making good use of an ice scraper while in subzero temperatures: “It’s a satisfying feeling, eh? Breaking the ice?”
Breaking the ice with strangers is like unlocking a secret level in the game of life—awkward at first, but packed with rewards! Every “Hi, how’s it going?” is a mini workout for your courage muscles. You grow by learning to handle weird pauses, laugh off your own jokes, and maybe discover the stranger’s dog has the same name as your childhood goldfish. Plus, you never know when a random chat might spark a friendship, a business idea, or at least a hilarious story. Awkwardness builds character—dive in!

Practically, it opens up communication with a wider range of people, enriching travel experiences and enhancing career opportunities. It encourages humility as we navigate mistakes and celebrate small victories, fostering patience and personal growth. Ultimately, it connects us to the universal flow of energy, expanding our consciousness and creating a deeper sense of unity.
#27. Think of money as energy. Thinking of money as energy is like realizing your wallet is a magic portal to a cosmic dance party! Instead of hoarding it like a dragon with gold, you start seeing cash as something that flows freely, like good vibes at a festival. #30. Cut out fake friends. Cutting out fake friends is like spring cleaning for your social life—suddenly, everything feels lighter and fresher! Fake friends drain your energy with their drama and empty promises, while real ones lift you up with support and laughter. It’s like ditching the potato chips for a fresh, nutritious snack—way more satisfying! When you cut out the fakes, you make room for genuine connections that nourish your soul. Plus, you won’t have to pretend to enjoy their “surprise” drama-filled texts. Your vibe will thank you for it!
#31. Curate your social media feed. Curating your social media feed is like creating your personal happiness playlist! By choosing accounts that inspire, uplift, and educate, you’re filling your mind with positive vibes and high-energy content. This boosts your mood, enhances your focus, and fosters personal growth. It’s like having a digital sanctuary—only good vibes allowed! You can ditch the negativity, avoid mindless scrolling, and curate your online world to mirror the life you want to manifest. So, get selective, spark joy, and watch how your energy transforms—both online and offline!
#32. Set intentions before scheduled events. Setting positive intentions before meetings with friends and coworkers is like gearing up for a game—you’re mentally primed for success. It shifts your energy, helping you stay present, focused, and ready to vibe with whatever comes your way. Whether you’re tackling a work project or catching up over lunch, intentions keep things aligned and productive. #49. Manifest a conscious friend group. Manifesting a conscious friend group is like ordering a super-powered, high-vibe squad from the universe—just with a little more patience. Start by imagining your ideal friends: deep, funny, and weird in all the right ways. Get clear on the kind of energy you want to surround yourself with, like positive vibes, real talk, and zero drama. Then, start showing up as that version of yourself! Trust the universe to match your frequency. Soon enough, you’ll be laughing, meditating, and having deep, soul-searching convos about life’s mysteries—like why the avocado toast always tastes better when shared.
#50. Put authenticity before love. Authenticity should trump love because, let’s face it, love is great, but pretending to be someone you’re not? That’s exhausting. Being your true self is like wearing sweatpants on a Sunday—comfortable, effortless, and freeing. If you’re authentic, you attract love that’s real, not the “let’s pretend to like pineapple pizza” kind of love. Plus, who wants a relationship built on a lie? Eventually, the mask slips, and you’re left trying to explain why you “don’t actually like hiking” while secretly binge-watching Netflix. Being 85 means you’ve earned the right to say whatever you want, take afternoon naps, and not care about the latest trends. So, ditch the middle-ground stress, embrace your inner toddler or retiree, and enjoy the weirdness of life without worrying about what others think!
#52. Keep a crystal. We should all keep a crystal because they’re like little metaphysical sidekicks—silent, sparkly, and totally in tune with the universe. These tiny, mineral powerhouses absorb bad vibes and radiate good energy, like your own personal force field made of rock. Need clarity? There’s a crystal for that. Want protection from weird energy? There’s a crystal for that, too. Plus, they make you look way cooler and more spiritual, like you have secret mystical knowledge. So, grab a crystal and let it vibe with your aura while you pretend to know what’s happening in the cosmos.
